Before you get started-Get together the two or three shades of colors you would like to use. Make sure one of them is very light (almost white) and the other one or two can be brighter or darker. You will also need nail polish remover, cotton balls, q-tips, clear polish, and a makeup sponge.
First Step
Start by taking off all your current nail polish and applying the lightest coat of nail polish. Make sure you do at least two coats so it’s a solid light color and WAIT till it dries fully. This is very important because if you don’t wait it becomes a sticky, gross mess :(
Second Step
Once your nails are dry, grab your make up sponge and apply the two or three tones of colors onto the flat rectangular side. You can make the darker shade at the top or bottom depending on the look you would like to achieve.
Third Step
Now that you have your sponge set up, lightly dab it onto your nail. Don’t worry about getting nail polish all over your fingers, thats why you have the q-tips and nail polish remover for later.
This part can get tricky and I believe the best way to go about this technique is to do one or two nails at a time and then paint more polish onto the sponge, since it absorbs it quickly.
Fourth Step
Your nail’s texture will be rough but once you applied the amount of color you want then you can wait a few seconds and apply your clear coat, from the bottom of your nail to the tip.
Fifth Step
The last step requires the q-tip and your nail polish remover. Wait to your nails dry a bit, to prevent smudges, and dip the q-tip into the nail polish remover. Blot the q-tip on a paper towel to keep it from being too wet with remover. Then you can use it to remove any imperfections that had occured.
Finally, Enjoy your really awesome nails. Add glitter to the tips for a shimmery look or paint on clear polish with sparkles to make it look like the galaxy. Have Fun!
